Entrepreneurial Opportunities

Home / Entrepreneurial Opportunities

In addition to its job training and placement programs, The Hatchery helps entrepreneurs in Garfield Park, West Humboldt Park, North Lawndale, and Austin grow their food and beverage businesses.

It accomplishes this through a variety of ways:

Priority Access

West Side residents receive priority access to all of the offerings at The Hatchery, and joint venture partners Allies for Community Business and ICNC are dedicated to working even more closely with residents of Garfield Park and the 27th Ward. Those ready to grow their businesses are placed at the top of the list for selecting a private kitchen to rent.

Free Classes

The Hatchery co-hosts two tracks of free classes for West Side residents, in collaboration with the Industrial Council of Nearwest Chicago (ICNC). One class series is for Job Seekers; the other is for aspiring Entrepreneurs. Please check our events page for upcoming classes.

Select core curriculum offerings are free for West Side residents. Please check our events page for upcoming classes, and look for the Community icon to designate free classes for West Side residents.

Neighborhood Market

West Side food entrepreneurs have the opportunity to apply to sell their products on The Hatchery plaza through The Garfield Park Neighborhood Market’s seasonal program.

Not Just the Food Industry

West Side entrepreneurs in other industries will be served by Allies for Community Business through capital, coaching, and connections. Allies for Community Business operates out of The Hatchery building.
