Join us for another exciting #HatcheryNetworking event! Our monthly Hatchery Networking events are a great place to meet entrepreneurs and other members of our community, and this month we have the honor of featuring our very own Hatchery member and resident, Maya Camille Broussard of Justice of the Pies!
Justice of the Pies is a bakery housed in The Hatchery, that specializes in sweet and savory pies, quiches, tarts, and social impact. MCB established Justice of the Pies in honor of her late father, Stephen J. Broussard, also known as the Pie Master. Steve was a criminal defense attorney with a passion for baking and eating anything made with a crust–and what better way to celebrate him than continuing his legacy through pies.
Justice of the Pies is committed to delivering amazing pies, quiches, and tarts while honoring Steve’s belief that everyone deserves an opportunity to reform their lives. Every year Maya-Camille partners with the Cabrini Green Legal Aid collaborating on a yearly pie drive, raising money to continue CGLA’s mission. Cabrini Green Legal Aid was created to serve legal needs arising from the lack of opportunity, criminalization of poverty, and racial inequity within the Cabrini Green community and now a statewide leader in supporting low-income individuals negatively impacted by the criminal justice system.
On October 24th we have the pleasure to discuss Maya-Camille’s entrepreneurial journey as a social culinary enterprise while navigating the seasonal marketplace.
