About the Speaker:
Cheryl Dancey Balough helps businesses and individuals protect their ideas, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets as they start new ventures or grow existing businesses. She also advises start-ups and closely held businesses on issues related to corporate formation, contracts, e-commerce, privacy, and advertising. Ms. Balough is a principal at Balough Law Offices, LLC and an adjunct professor of copyright law at Chicago-Kent College of Law and previously was senior faculty in communications and business planning at Keller Graduate School of Management. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association Cyberspace Law Committee and has served in many roles with the Chicago Bar Association Alliance for Women. Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Balough spent 20 years as a marketing executive. She earned a JD from Chicago-Kent and an MBA from Northwestern University.
Susan Clarke, owner of Clarke Public Accounting in Roscoe Village, has been a practicing CPA for over 20 years, specializing in small to mid-sized business tax and accounting. She is a member in good standing with AICPA and ICPAS. Susan also holds a Masters in Taxation degree as well as a CPA designation. She is truly passionate about helping businesses organize and report their finances always with an eye towards being tax “smart.
